It was an overcast day on Saturday the 13th of March but nothing was about to dampen the mood of a car full of shining Rubys. Heading to Northam to perform at the Wild Oats festival the band set off (trailer full of musical instruments in tote) and within two hours arrived at Bernard Park. With the band on stage to set-up and sound check, (and a certain Vanessa of Jebediah fame on stage at the same time) some excited looks were exchanged. The buzz of the band carried on the air and was soon circling fans standing before them.
A line of Ruby’s Letter t-shirts stuck out among the crowd and as the band began to play their first song ‘Runaway’ it was not long before those watching were jumping about and singing along. The sound of Ella’s powerful voice, backed up by twin sister Dana’s sweet harmonies, resonated through the park, perhaps even halfway through the wheatbelt. A particular favourite seemed to be ‘Shine Brighter’, the newest track from Ruby’s Letter, and with a rock-out ending to the final song of the set ‘Images’, fans were left only wanting more.
The set was soon over but the night had only just begun. With other ozzie rockers to enjoy as well as beers and golf buggy rides, the band stuck around and when it later rained part way through the night these cheerful Ruby’s glistened. With tents for beds at 4.30am and a hangover cure of Maccas a few hours later, this savvy group of pop rockers piled back into the car and headed back to Perth.

It was an earlier start than usual on Saturday. We got to Clearview Studios at near on 10 to record our Demo. Max was there first to load in and mic up his kit the rest of us followed soon after. We began recording just before noon with the hopes to lay down 5 tracks. Time goes amazingly fast whilst recording between constantly mucking around with audio levels for feedback, regular tuning and instrument issues (damn internet) we finally got into the groove!
We managed to get down 4 tracks Runaway, Should I Stay, Shine Brighter and Disconcern. It was a Long day so at the end a BBQ coupled with a refreshing beverage seemed to be the only way to round it off.
If you want to listen to some tracks you can head to our MySpace page!

“… Setting things off with a bang were the 5 piece Rubys Letter who carried just the right amount of confidence, with the lead singers bubbly energy and infectious smile drawing the crowd in. Absolutely stunning vocals were a highlight along with ridiculously infectious tunes. The bands obvious love for performing radiated throughout the set… “
